About the Area

Hampshire College is located in the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts, an area with vibrant local and academic culture. As a member of the five college consortium, Hampshire has close ties with the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Amherst College, Mount Holyoke College, and Smith College. Nearby towns of note in close proximity to Hampshire are Amherst and Northampton, both of which are accessible by the five college bus system, the rail trail, or a short drive.
